How to verify Service Tax Registration

Sometimes, one needs to verify the service tax registration code of any person, firm or company. Reason for verification may be following:

To check whether that person is actually registered with Service Tax Dept. or not. Sometime it happens that companies charge service tax without being registered.
To ensure that you get the CENVAT credit of service tax paid. One will get credit only when the person to whom service tax paid is actually registered with service tax Dept.
